چکیده

Diminishing ischemia-reperfusion injury (IRI) by improving kidney preservation techniques offers great beneficial value for transplant recipients. Mitochondria play an important role in the pathogenesis of IRI and are therefore interesting targets pharmacological interventions. Hypothermic machine perfusion (HMP), as a strategy, possibility to provide mitochondrial–targeted therapies. This study focuses on addition mitochondrial protective agent SUL—138 during HMP assesses its effect function normothermic reperfusion. In this case, 30 min warm ischemia was applied porcine slaughterhouse kidneys before 24 h non–oxygenated with or without SUL—138. Functional assessment performed 4 autologous blood No differences renal parameters were found between both groups. ATP levels lower after SUL–138 group (n.s, p = 0.067) but restored significantly combination Aspartate aminotransferase (ASAT) group. does not influence model. Restoration SUL ASAT could be indication improved function.

Hypothermic Machine Perfusion Preservation of the DCD Kidney: Machine Effects

Purpose. Kidneys from DCD donors represent a significant pool, but preservation problems exist. The study objective was to test the importance of machine type for hypothermic preservation of DCD kidneys. Methods. Adult Beagle dog kidneys underwent 45 minutes of warm in situ ischemia followed by hypothermic perfusion for 24 hours (Belzer-MPS Solution) on either an ORS LifePort or a Waters RM3 us...

Machine perfusion or cold storage in deceased-donor kidney transplantation.

BACKGROUND Static cold storage is generally used to preserve kidney allografts from deceased donors. Hypothermic machine perfusion may improve outcomes after transplantation, but few sufficiently powered prospective studies have addressed this possibility. METHODS In this international randomized, controlled trial, we randomly assigned one kidney from 336 consecutive deceased donors to machin...

Allocating Deceased Donor Kidneys to Sensitized Candidates.

In this edition of the Clinical Journal of the American Society of Nephrology, Gebel et al. (1) present simulation data showing that the new kidney allocation system (KAS) increases the offer rate for highly sensitizedkidney transplant candidates. This is counter to the previously held belief that the only possibility of transplanting a highly sensitized patient iswith anHLA-identical kidney. T...

Assessment of Deceased Donor Kidneys Using a Donor Scoring System

PURPOSE Marginal grafts should be used more actively in Asian countries where deceased donor transplantation is unpopular. We modified a quantitative donor scoring system proposed by Nyberg and his colleagues and developed a donor scoring system in order to assess the quality of deceased donor grafts and their prognostic value as an initial effort to promote usage of marginal donors. MATERIAL...
